“We are a proud partner of Hunts Point Produce Market and rely on their generosity, week in and week out, to help us feed New Yorkers in need. In 2019, we delivered over 3 million pounds of fresh produce right from the market to soup kitchens and food pantries across the 5 boroughs, helping to feed the 1.2 million New Yorkers who struggle to put meals on their tables.”
– Jen McLean, COO, City Harvest
Hunts Point Produce Market is committed to serving the New York City region—and that includes giving back. That’s why we partner with local food rescue and food-service organizations to donate our surplus produce. Each year, more than 15 million pounds of food makes its way to our neighbors in the five boroughs and Westchester County.

Events & Partners
Week of Giving
Every year, the market’s merchants donate produce to local Hunts Point residents during the Thanksgiving season. In the spirit of the holiday, volunteers from the market assemble thoughtful selections of fruits and vegetables and distribute these tokens of their appreciation at an annual community event.
City Harvest
City Harvest is New York City’s largest food rescue organization, helping to feed the nearly 1.2 million New Yorkers who are struggling to put meals on their tables. We will rescue 66 million pounds of food this year and deliver it, free of charge, to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community partners across the five boroughs. We have worked with Hunts Point for nearly 20 years to rescue excess food from vendors and deliver it to our neighbors in need.
Feeding Westchester
As the leading hunger-relief organization in Westchester County, Feeding Westchester powers a network of 300 partners and programs who ensure that anyone who faces hunger in the county has access to good, nutritious food. Every year, we help feed nearly 200,000 seniors, families, and children. The fresh produce we receive each week from Hunts Point is the foundation of Feeding Westchester’s efforts to feed our neighbors in need across Westchester County. Because of the market, we can provide good, healthy produce they otherwise couldn’t afford.
Food Bank For New York City
For 36 years, Food Bank For New York City has been the city’s major hunger-relief organization working to end hunger throughout the five boroughs. Through its network of more than 1,000 charities and schools citywide, Food Bank provides food for more than 61 million free meals per year for New Yorkers in need. Food Bank For New York City is pleased to work with Hunts Point to receive more than 500,000 pounds of fresh produce, enabling us to increase access and provide healthy and nutritious food to communities in need across New York City.
