Safe Operations at the Market
Here’s what we’re doing to keep our team safe:
The wellbeing of both our direct employees as well as our merchants and their employees remains a top priority. Below are the actions our management is taking to protect our workers. We are grateful for their service, which has kept us operating throughout the pandemic.
- Educate the workforce on the latest CDC guidelines, including thorough hand washing or the use of sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol when water is not readily available
- Increase PPE supplies: We have approximately 2,000 masks available daily for market members
- Installation of interior wall mounted hand-sanitizing stations throughout the market
- Operational adjustments: Employees and customer hours have been altered to minimize contact
- Operating under social distancing guidelines: Reminding employees and customers to remain 6 feet apart and installation of physical barriers for separation, where possible
- Limit employee exposure: We are maintaining separation between the upstairs offices and downstairs selling dock and are controlling how many people are in our warehouses at one time
Here’s what we’re doing to enhance safety conditions at Hunts Point Produce Market:
Market operations have also been adjusted to ensure the safety of our customers and employees. Hunts Point Produce Market remains fully functional and committed to serving our community, despite these protective enhancements. Our operations team has implemented stringent operational and safety protocols across the market.
- Increase frequency of cleanings: Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting efforts in all common areas across the market
- Social Distancing: We have installed barriers to keep the proper distance between customers and employees, ensuring that business can take place at a safe distance
- All staff, employees, and visitors are required to wear face masks at all times
- Implemented enhanced daily cleanliness protocols across the entire market, in addition to our standard stringent protocols
- An individual merchant may, in some cases, require additional safety and cleanliness protocols as well
- Scheduling shifts to limit employee contact and exposure
- Limiting the number of people allowed in the market at one time
- Installed plexiglass and/or glass barriers in select locations, including in market management cubicles and necessary high-traffic areas
